God calls us to proclaim what we have seen and heard! When someone asks you to make a profession of faith or give a testimony, does your blood pressure go up? Do you dread it, and begin to sweat, perhaps even panic? Can you think of all kinds of reasons why you should not profess your faith, such as you do not know enough, you are not ready, or that this is not your gift? I know I have in the past. I have a natural fear of public speaking, which you may think is weird for a pastor, but many of us do.

For real prayer to function at its apex, we need to acknowledge who God is, and see Him as Lord Supreme over all things, including our very lives. We must seek Him out for all occasions in life so that in all situations, we have a first response of praising and adoring Christ for who He is, and because He is worthy of eternal praise. But, do we do this?
The struggle to seek or find the Will of God has conflicted and confronted countless Christians and non-Christians alike over the millennia. But, most miss the point of the quest and end up with the wrong items, declaring them as God's Will, or they give up and say God's Will cannot be found. So, what is the Will of God? Just as the Customs Officer asks you with a deep stern and convicting look when you enter a country, "do you have anything to declare," so must we declare Christ with even more passion and conviction! And we can only do it with knowing it, knowing Him and His Word. This is the step that helps us "internalize" what we are learning.

Have you ever thought through why you do not spend more time with God? What aspects of your time and commitment hold you back from prayer?
